 Himachal Assembly repeals 13 redundant Acts

Himachal Pradesh assembly today passed legislation to repeal 13 Act that are not in use and become irrelevant.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu presented the Himachal Pradesh Repeal Act 2023  to do away with Acts that have lost their significance or have become obsolete and redundant or the retention wherein a separate, independent, and distinct Act.

CM said that such legislation is unnecessary and those acts should be proposed to be repealed. The principal object of such repealing is to remove such redundant laws from the statute book to bring clarity. 

 Repealed 13 Acts. are the Presidency Small Cause Courts Act, of 1882, The Agriculturists Loans Act, of 1884, The Provincial Small Cause Courts Act, of 1887, The Mandi Minor Forest Produce Exploitation and Export Act, of 1997, and 1941.  The Chamba Minor Forest Produce Exploitation and Export Act, 2003, The Punjab Tobacco Vend Fees (Repealing) Act, 1953, The Himachal Pradesh Private Forest Act, 1954, The Punjab Labor Welfare Fund Act, 1965, The Punjab Professions, Trades, Callings and Employment Taxation (Himachal Pradesh Repealing) Act, 1968, HP Preservation of Forests and Maintenance of Supplies of Forest Based Essential Commodities Act, 1984,  HP Protection of Interest of Depositors (In Financial Establishment) Act, 1999.  HP Paramedical Council Act, 2003, HP Administrative Tribunal (Transfer of Decided and Pending Cases and Applications) Act, 2008.

The Bill was passed without discussion in the house after lunch.
