Farmers push to the wall in 9 yrs of Modi Govt: AIKC

Terming Narendra Modi government antifarmer and pro-corporate All India Kissan Congress said that in the past 9 yrs, Farmers were pushed to walls.

This was stated by AIKC president Sukhpal Singh Kehra who was addressing the media at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan Shimla on Saturday.

He said that the BJP government deceived Farma as it promises implementation of the Swaminathan Commission recommendation in the Election campaign almost pushed farmers to the wall as Agriculture is unprofitable and the income of farmers is declined drastically.

He said that the Modi government failed to provide fertilizers to farmers as it cut down the agriculture budget. Mr. Khera said the Modi government has not announced the minimum support price (MSP) promised to farmers during Farmer’s agitation against three farm laws.

He said that the Modi government has announced 7 7th pay commission for employees but in the last 75 yrs, no such scheme was launched to increase the income of farmers.

He said that successive governments including the Congress party couldn’t protect the interests of farmers as despite producing crops they have no right to decide their price.

He said barring Agriculture produce prices of other goods and products are always decided by producers and manufacturers but Farmers are deprived of the right as they are exploited by middlemen. 

The Union government wanted to give more control to corporate in Agriculture by introducing a farm law which was withdrawn by the Modi government after strong agitation by them.

AIKC said that the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government made many promises to Farmers and Apple Growers in the assembly elections and should fulfill the assurances. He said that AIKC is with Farmers and did not bother to protest against State government if it would not complete the assurances.
