Continued Snowfall on high reaches of Himachal – Yellow Alert from April 26

High reaches of Himachal Pradesh received another spell of snowfall and light rain at a few places plummeting the Minimum temperature to several degrees below normal in minus. 

The meteorological department recorded six centimeters of snow at Gondola in the Lahaul-Spiti district and Keylong three cm. Chamba also recorded 15.5 mm of rain, Bharmaur 7.2mm and Dalhousie 3mm, and Manali and Palampur 2.6 mm each.  Sky was mainly cloudy today.

The minimum temperature of Keylong was minus 4.1 degrees Celsius on Sunday which was seven degrees below normal. Kalpa was 0.4 degrees, Tourist Resort Manali Dalhousie and Narkanda four degrees, Kufri 7.8, Chamba  8.3, and Solan and Shimla 9.9. , Airport Bhuntar 7.2, Hamirpur 10, Una and Mandi 10.5 and Kangra 11.2, Jubberhati Airport and Dharmshala 12, and Bilaspur 15 degrees.

Inclement weather conditions prevail in the state as Met Office forecast rain or snowfall at isolated places for the next three days and a yellow alert was also issued for more rain and thundershowers since April 26 and 27 in the state.

Despite inclement weather conditions district administration Lahaul-Spiti allows vehicular traffic to the district to facilitate a large number of Tourist vehicles.

A press release issued by the district administration said that all kinds of Local (residents of Lahaul & Spiti ) vehicles are allowed to enter the District via ATR (and vice versa ) without any restrictions on timing.

  Sansari-Killar-Thirot-Tandi (SKTT) Road is open upto Bhubhag but near Kurched & Bhibhag to Kadhu Nallab road is closed due to Landslide. 

All types of Tourist vehicles are allowed ( Except Two Wheeler ) to enter the district from 09:30 AM to 04:00 PM upto Darcha only without any restrictions and day Tourists to return by 5:00 PM Tourists who have Hotels Home Stay booking in the valley are allowed to travel in all type of vehicles without any restrictions. 

Due to prevailing inclement weather in the valley and the possibility of avalanches, Locals & tourists are advised to be very cautious while traveling in the valley.
