Congress leader Naresh Chauhan is telling lies and making fabricated statements: Chetan

BJP state spokesperson Chetan Bragta said that the Congress government of Himachal Pradesh has taken a loan of Rs 12,000 crore in 11 months. The Congress government took an average loan of Rs 1000 crore every month. Not even a single rupee has been spent on schemes for the development of the state and public welfare. According to the information obtained through RTI, in the last 10 months the Himachal Pradesh government has taken a loan of Rs 10,300 crore, while it has taken a loan of Rs 1000 crore from other institutions. During this period, neither any new institute was opened nor the old institutes were upgraded.

Chetan Bragta said that taking loans for its luxuries has been an old habit of the Congress government. He said that Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Naresh Chauhan is continuously making factual statements. Every new day they are trying to mislead the public by making false statements. For their information, I am sharing the figures of loans taken by the state government. Till the time of BJP government in 2012, the state had a loan of only Rs 29 thousand crores. As soon as the Congress government was formed, the loan increased from Rs 29 thousand crore to Rs 48 thousand crore during its tenure 2012 to 2017. During the BJP tenure from 2017 to 2022, the loan reached only Rs 48 thousand crore to Rs 63 thousand crore.

What this means is that during the tenure of Congress, the loans taken by the state government increased by 66%, whereas during the tenure of BJP it increased by only 31%. You decide for yourself which government pushed the state into the quagmire of debt.

BJP has expressed apprehension that if the process of taking loans continues at this pace, then in 5 years this government will take a loan of more than Rs 60,000 crore and push Himachal Pradesh towards poverty. On one hand, the Congress government complains of lack of funds, while on the other hand, many Chief Parliamentary Secretaries are appointed ignoring the rules and regulations. He has also been accused of creating many new cabinet rank posts and appointing his favorite people to them. BJP says that Rs 11,000 crore has been spent on the luxuries of these people by taking loans.
