Shutdown by Adani Cement: Truck operators court arrest
In protest against the sudden shutdown of cement plants at Barmana in district Bilaspur and Darlaghat in district Solan by Adani Group, 40 truck operators in Dadlaghat gave court arrest this morning expressing anguish over the 45 days long closer of plants. In the evening the operators took out a torchlight procession raising slogans Adani Cement company. The arrested truck operators were also gave court arrest who are released by police released completing the necessary formalities after arresting them. A torchlight procession was also taken out here last evening. The truckers raised against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani in Dadlaghat. Truckers stated that under monopoly of one corporate house there is lawlessness in the country as thousands of people came down on the roads as they lost their livelihood. It worthwhile to mention that truck operators across the state have given a call for chakka jam across the state on February 4 and all the truck unions in all the districts across the state have claimed to participate in the chakka jam. To end the impasse chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu would hold talk with both group on February 3. Mr Sukhu me5 wi6 truck operators on Wednesday given invitation to protesting truck operators union to attend talks tomorrow. It is not yet decided whether there would be representatives of the Adani group company in the talks. However, truck operators held discussions among themselves in Bilaspur and Darlaghat today, but there is no consensus on reducing the freight rates from the existing rates. In such a situation, there is doubt whether any solution would be found in the talks to be held tomorrow. State had faced loss of about hundreds of Crore GST from the shutdown. It is worthwhile to mention that government had served notice to Adani Cement if it is interested to start production and why not lease of lands should cancel. It is worthwhile that after four days of coming to power of Congress government Adani Cement shutdown Ambujaja and Darlaghat Cement plants later blamed Truck operators to increase the freight charges. Adani Cement was seeking fixation of freight charges of cement transport much mess rate than market current rate and want to reduce the fleet of double acle truck from the plants.
