Major mishap averted: Rail car derails on Kalka-Shimla rail line
A major mishap averted this morning when a rail car suddenly derailed near Barog railway station on World Heritage Kalka-Shimla Rail line this morning. Rail car saw reported boarded by only nine passengers running on slightly high speed stopped after some distance it derailed from narrow gauge line luckily it did not overturn which saved the lives of the all passengers. Preliminary investigations revealed that the speed of rail car was not much high that averted major accident on the track.
The mishap occurred at 7.45 am, shortly after the car departure for Shimla from Kalka. Report said it was between Kumarhatti to Barog station when it derailed . The panic strike passengers was de boarded safely by traveling crew of the Rail car. A total of nine passengers were traveling in the rail motor car, out of its full capacity 15 seats.
The railway officials has intimated the senior officials in Shimla and Ambala. The investigation would start only after the officials reach at the site of mishap to ascertain the cause of the accident. Soon after the mishap, railway officials have made arrangements to send the passengers to Shimla after reaching Barog railway station. This rail car has been running on the heritage track for a long time. It runs daily from Kalka to Shimla at five am. Tourists pay more attention to travel in this rail car. Apart from this, local people also use the trains to reach Shimla and other stations, situated on the track.
Meanwhile, the authorities of northern railway have suspended the movement of all Up, and Down trains till the clearance of the railway line.
