Intensive diarrhea and pneumonia control fortnight will start from March 14
To accelerate the efforts to reduce child mortality, the Health and Family Welfare Department, Shimla district is organizing an intensive diarrhea and pneumonia control fortnight in the district from March 14 to March 27 for children up to the age of 5 years. During the fortnight, ORS and zinc medicines will be distributed to about 52310 children up to the age of 5 years.
Chief Medical Officer, District Shimla, Dr. Rakesh Pratap, while giving information, said that important guidelines have been issued to all the block medical officers to make this fortnight successful in the district. During this fortnight, Asha workers will visit all the houses with children up to 5 years of age and will distribute ORS packets and zinc tablets. During this time, people will also be made aware about prevention of water-borne diseases and pneumonia.
He informed that ORS corners will be made in all the health institutions of the district in which the method of hand washing will also be demonstrated to make people aware about cleanliness and the benefits of hand washing. The Chief Medical Officer appealed to the general public and said that to make the Intensive Diarrhea and Pneumonia Control Fortnight a success, everyone should ensure their participation and cooperate with the Health Department.
