Himachal Signs MoU with the Art of Living for curbing drug menace
The Art of Living (AoL) is to join hands with the State Government to run anti-drug campaigns in the State. An MoU in this regard was signed between the Himachal Pradesh Government and Art of Living in the presence of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at Shimla today. Secretary, Administrative Reforms, C. Palrasu and Air Marshal (Retd) V.P.S. Rana signed the agreement on behalf of GoHP and AoL respectively.
The Chief Minister said that under the aegis spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, this initiative will certainly help in creating mass awareness to fight the drug menace. The Chief Minister emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating that AoL will wholeheartedly assist the State Government in eradicating the drug menace, together bearing the associated expenses. Sh. Sukhu said that the NGO will not only support the States Government resolve of eradicating drugs nuisance but also collaborate in various other areas essential to the State’s development. These include sustainable environmental protection, community livelihood models, community-based tourism, herbal wellness, community forest management, modern education, skill development, and youth empowerment.
Chief Advisor and Trustee of the Himalayan Unnati Mission, Air Marshal (Retd) V.P.S. Rana said that this was the result of the far-reaching efforts of the state government that AoL got an opportunity to work as an official partner for the sustainable development of the remote areas of the state.
Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. (Col), Dhani Ram Shandil, Chairman, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, R.S. Bali, MLAs, Kewal Singh Pathania, Ajay Solanki, Sudarshan Babloo, OSD to Chief Minister’s Ritesh Kapret, Principal Advisor, Ram Subhag Singh, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Chairman, RERA Dr. Srikant Baldi, Darshak Hathi, Abhay Sharma and Hitesh Kumar on behalf of Art of Living organization were also present amongst others. —
