Booked for indulged effecting RS poll and criminal conspiracy
The Himachal Pradesh Police registered a case against an independent MLA and the father of a Congress dissident over “electoral offenses” related to the recent Rajya Sabha polls in which six party MLAs voted for the BJP candidate from the state.
Superintendent of Police Shimla Sanjeev Gandhi said that FIR is lodged under sections 170 a and 120 b at Police Station Boileauganj on the complaint of two persons including an independent MLA.
The case against Hamirpur’s independent MLA Ashish Sharma and Rakesh Sharma father of Gagret’s disqualified MLA Chetanya Sharma was registered based on a complaint lodged by Congress MLAs Sanjay Awasthi and Bhuvneshwar Gaur.
Mr. Sharma along with five other MLAs and three Independent cross voted in favor of BJP candidate Harash Mahajan in the Rajyasabha election on February 27 and he is still in touch with BJP leaders and out of state and currently staying in Taj Resort near Rishikesh. Other Congress-disqualified MLAs are Rajinder Rana, Sudhir Sharma, Ravi Thakur Indurdutt Lakhan Pal, and Devinder Bhutoo. Three Independent MLAs Hoshiarpur Singh, Ashish Sharma, and KL Thakur.
This triggered a crisis in the state’s Congress government, which appeared to have lost its majority in the assembly.
Six Congress disqualified also moved in the Supreme Court of India challenging their disqualification by the speaker on February 29. SC may hear the civil write petition tomorrow or Tuesday.
