Due to the efforts of the state government, Shinkula Tunnel got FCA clearance: Sukhu

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has said that due to the efforts of the state government, the way for construction of Shinkula Tunnel has been cleared. He said that the Central Government has given FCA clearance to build a 4.1 km tunnel to connect Lahaul and Ladakh. He said that the state government gave priority to the construction of this important tunnel and got approval from the central government by appointing a special officer. It is due to the efforts of the state government that FCA clearance has been obtained for the construction of the tunnel. He said that along with the tunnel, a helipad and office complex will also be constructed here. He said that along with the south portal of the tunnel, about a 3800-meter portion will be built in Himachal Pradesh.

The Chief Minister said that with the construction of this tunnel, it will be possible to reach Ladakh in all weather conditions and this will be the shortest route to reach the Union Territory of Ladakh. This will allow the movement of vehicles even during snowfall. He said that the construction of the Shinkula Tunnel will prove to be important from a strategic point of view and the movement of security forces will become easier. This tunnel will be built under Shinkula Pass at 4800 meters above sea level. He said that the construction of the tunnel would boost tourism activities in the Lahaul region, which would improve the economic condition of the region and improve the standard of living of the people of the region. He said that the state government is giving priority to the construction of tunnels in different parts of the state, so that the residents of the state as well as tourists can get better facilities.
