Women doing shopping in Junga on Karwa Chauth
Due to the holy festival of Karva Chauth, women did extensive shopping in Junga, Koti, Janeddhat, Mudaghat, and Kufri. Crowds of women were seen at sweets, beauty parlors, and general stores to buy Karva Chauth items. The women remained busy the whole day buying fanny, buttermilk, sweets, wearing bangles, and getting coconuts made. Women were standing in a queue in the beauty parlor to get facials and henna applied. That means business worth crores of rupees was done by the businessmen.
Acharya Pandit Anil Sharma said that women will keep a fast on 1st November for the long life of their husbands, for which women keep this fast by remaining waterless and fasting for the whole day. This year, there is a possibility of attaining complete success on this fast, which is very auspicious for women fasting for the first time. The tradition of having the darshan of the husband through a sieve after offering Madhya to the moon at night is prevalent. After this, the fast is broken by the husband making the wife drink water. He said that the auspicious time for the worship of Karva Chauth is from 5.36 pm to 6.54 pm on 1st November. Let us tell you that due to being a hilly area, in many places the moon rises after 10 o’clock, due to which women have to wait for the moon for a long time. Whereas according to the Panchang, the Moon will rise in the universe at 08:09.
Senior citizen Pritam Singh Thakur, former head Atar Singh Thakur said that in the past, the festival of Karva Chauth was rarely celebrated in rural areas. Some women used to observe this fast in a simple form without any expense. Similarly, senior citizen Dayaram Verma said that on the lines of Punjab state, it has started being celebrated in Himachal for the last 30 years. Now this festival has become a fashion in Himachal Pradesh. On average, every family spends a minimum of Rs 5,000 on this festival, due to which poor families in particular are being greatly affected.
