Thousands of people received blessings of Dev Junga at Devthan in Thund

Thousands of people visited Dev Junga and received blessings on Thursday, on the festival of Prabodhani Ekadashi i.e. Devotthan, which is called Devthan in the local language, at Thund, the place of Gods.
Giving information about Devotthan festival, temple priest Nandlal Sharma said that Thund is considered to be the place of 22 gods since the princely times, where every year on the occasion of Devshayani and Devotthan, devotees come from different areas to get the blessings of Dev Junga. The belief of Dev Junga Devchand is found in areas like Spathu of Solan district, Shargaon of Sirmaur, Neineti, Junga of Shimla, Shodhi, New Shaloth, Piran-Trai, Balog, etc. and people consider Dev Junga as their family member.
He said that on the occasion of Devthan and Dasuni, 22 deities including the deity Devchand of the entire region, the Kunthali deity of Panjal, the Manuni deity of Dhar, the Junga deity of Bhanog gather where people offer offerings to the deity after their wishes are fulfilled. He said that people of 22 gotras i.e. Khail including Kanogu, Rohal, Shalonthi, Bhunthi, Takral, Chhibbar, Balir, and Saraji come to the Kalain of Dev Junga Devchand and follow the tradition. On the night of Devthan, people perform Jagaran of 22 deities in the courtyard of Dom Devta and the next day they receive blessings from the divine voice of the deity.
Junga Devta’s uncle Pritam Thakur said that the history of Junga Devta is linked to the royal family of the Keonthal princely state. Said that the belief in Junga deity is found in the entire then Keonthal state. People of this region invite the deity to their homes when a son is born in the family and other auspicious events take place. On the holy festival of Devthan, thousands of people took Prasad from the Bhandara organized by Satyapal Thakur and Vishma Thakur of Trai village at 22 Tika Dev Sthan.
On this occasion, Dev Samiti officials Manohar Singh Thakur, Ramsaran, Dharam Singh Thakur from Balog, and people from different areas received the blessings of the deity.
