Himachal Tourism Partners with MakeMyTrip to Boost Hospitality Services

In a significant step towards revitalizing tourism in Himachal Pradesh, the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) has joined hands with private travel giant MakeMyTrip. This collaboration aims to streamline hotel booking services and position HPTDC properties as strong competitors against private hotel chains. As part of the agreement, MakeMyTrip has paid an advance of ₹2 crore to secure booking rights for HPTDC properties, marking a promising start to this partnership.

Aiming for Growth: ₹300 Crore Revenue Target

HPTDC Chairman RS Bali announced this initiative during a press conference, expressing confidence in its potential to boost the corporation’s revenue. He revealed ambitious plans to achieve a turnover of ₹300 crore within the next six months. To support this target, ₹16 crore will be invested in renovating iconic properties like Hotel Holiday Home and Peterhoff in Shimla and Hotel Hamir in Hamirpur. These upgrades are expected to enhance guest experiences and attract more visitors.

The chairman highlighted that HPTDC’s revenue this year has already exceeded last year’s figures by ₹2.67 crore, reflecting a steady upward trend.

Focus on Quality and Efficiency

To further improve service quality, the state government has approved the recruitment of technically skilled cooks and managers. Additionally, HPTDC is addressing staff shortages by reallocating employees to locations where they are most needed. Weekly reviews of income and expenditure will ensure better financial management and operational efficiency.

Strengthening Online Presence

To oversee its online collaborations, General Manager Anil Taneja has been appointed as the nodal officer. While MakeMyTrip is the first private partner, HPTDC is also exploring collaborations with other online platforms to maximize its visibility and bookings. Private partners will take responsibility for promoting HPTDC properties on their platforms, providing dedicated staff such as a channel manager to ensure seamless operations.

A New Era for Himachal Tourism

This partnership represents a new era for Himachal Pradesh tourism, blending public resources with private expertise. With a clear focus on quality, revenue growth, and enhanced guest experiences, HPTDC is poised to transform its hospitality services while strengthening its position in the competitive travel market.
