Government giving fillip to make states’ youth Self-Reliant

The state government is giving fillip to the qualitative and professional education with the aim to make the youth of the state self-reliant.  Himachal Government is laying special emphasis on strengthening technical education in the state. State government has introduced many new vocational courses in technical education institutions.

Presently there are 363 Technical Education and Industrial Training Institutes in the state. There are five Engineering Colleges, four pharmacy colleges, 16 polytechnic institutes, 138 Industrial Training Institutes along with one Motor Driving and Heavy Earth Moving Machinery Operator School in the government sector and nine Engineering Colleges, 16 Pharmacy Colleges nine Polytechnic Institutes, 14 D-Pharmacy Colleges and 151 Industrial Training Institutes in private sector with 58439 students’ intake capacity.

The state government has introduced Computer Engineering and Civil Engineering diploma in Government Polytechnic Institute for Women Rehan in district Kangra. The government in its 2022-23 budget decided to start B.Tech in computer science and M.Tech programme in civil engineering in Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College, Sundernagar from the upcoming session. Diploma courses in electrical engineering have been started in Government Polytechnic Institute for Women, Kandaghat and Pharmacy Diploma course has been started in Government Polytechnic Institute, Talwar.

To generate highly skilled human resources, the state government has approved Government Hydro Engineering College Bandla in district Bilaspur and Mahatma Gandhi Government Engineering College Jeori in district Shimla. The government has notified Polytechnic Colleges at Karsog and Seraj in district Mandi, Jandaur and Sulah in district Kangra and Dalash in district Kullu.

The State Government has also notified the opening of Government Pharmacy College in Sulah Area in district Kangra. Degree course in Electrical Engineering Trade has also been started in Atal Behari Vajpayee Government Engineering College Pragatinagar in district Shimla.

The state Government is to launch a new scheme Kaushal Aapke Dwar with the aim of providing services like plumbing, welding, electrical repairs, fridge and AC repair. Under this scheme, the ITI having courses in these trades will be providing services to the nearby consumers at lowest possible rates.
