Will not let any Pong Dam displaced person remain landless: Sukhu
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday campaigned vigorously in favour of the Congress party in Ludret, Nandpur Bhatoli, Jalrian, Guler, Gathuter and Bhatoli Fakorian of Dehra assembly constituency and sought votes in favour of the party candidate Kamlesh Thakur.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the Congress government will not allow any Pong Dam displaced family to remain landless. He said that he will personally look into the matter and if the law has to be changed, he will change it, but the problems of the displaced will be resolved. He said that since 1972, 20,722 affected families have been wandering from door to door in the hope of justice but their problems have not been solved, but now the Congress government will solve their problems.
He said that former MLA of Dehra, Hoshiar Singh, was engaged in his own development for only six years and did not pay any attention to the problems of Dehra. He never imagined that Dehra would be so backward and people are also facing problems of electricity, water and roads. He said that Dehra is now ours and it is my responsibility to solve the problems here. He said that it would have been better if Hoshiar Singh had protested for the problems of Dehra instead of protesting to get his resignation accepted. But the former MLA joined the conspiracy to topple an elected government and got sold in the political market of BJP. For a month, Hoshiar Singh stayed outside Dehra in expensive hotels of Panchkula, Gurgaon and Haridwar. He said that due to the resignation not being accepted, his second installment from BJP was stopped and now the briefcase of the second installment has reached him, but the state government has a complete eye on this money and Hoshiar Singh is going to use this money to buy votes. He said that the public should take double-triple the money from the former MLA as this is the money earned by trading public sentiments, but should vote for the Congress party candidate.
Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that when the people of Dehra had elected Hoshiar Singh as an independent MLA for five years, what was the need for him to resign within one and a half years. Now he has left the MLA post and is asking for votes to become MLA again for three and a half years. Before resigning from the post of MLA, he did not even ask the voters of Dehra once whether he should resign or not. He said that Hoshiar Singh is not asking for votes to become MLA, but to complete the work of his unfinished resort. Six months ago I came to Dehra and made announcements for the area and Hoshiar is saying that my work is not being done in the Congress government. The truth is that even while being an MLA, Hoshiar Singh never came with the problems of his area. The MLA gets two crores every year for the development of the area, Hoshiar Singh should tell where did the 12 crores of six years go. He said that the former MLA has now been exposed in front of the public and is ready to teach a lesson to the sold MLA. The people of the state have increased the number of Congress MLAs from 34 to 38. It is the fortune of Dehra that his wife Kamlesh Thakur has been made the party candidate by the Congress high command on the basis of a survey and now the development of the area will be ensured.
The Chief Minister said that the Congress government has been working for the welfare of the people from the very first day of assuming power. Under the Mukhyamantri Sukhashray Yojana for orphan children, 4000 orphan children have been adopted. Along with financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh for building houses to widows and single women, the state government is bearing the expenses of higher education of their children up to 27 years of age. The Congress government is bearing the expenses of treatment of elderly people above 70 years of age. Cow milk is being purchased at the rate of Rs 45 and buffalo milk at the rate of Rs 55 per liter. The daily wage of MNREGA has been increased from Rs 240 to Rs 300. Women are being provided a pension of Rs 1500 and Rs 4500 for three months has been deposited in the accounts of 1045 women of Dehra. Along with this, the old pension has been restored for 1.36 lakh government employees of the state. Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that during the disaster, the Congress government rehabilitated 22 thousand affected families without any help from the central government and gave a special package of Rs 4500 crore for their rehabilitation. He said that the state government has closed the backdoor of corruption and improved the economic condition of the state by 20 percent and earned additional revenue of Rs 2200 crore, which is being distributed among the people by making public welfare schemes.
On this occasion, Agriculture Minister Choudhary Chandra Kumar, Himachal Pradesh Congress Party Treasurer Dr. Rajesh Sharma, District President Karna Pathania, Congress leader Devendra Jaggi, Manmohan Katoch and other dignitaries were present.
