Weather toll mounts to 383 , five die in past 24hrs
Unprecedented delayed Monsoon which is counting for last four days today washed out Prime Minister Narendra Modi Election rally on Friday beside it took five lives and seven got injured in various rain related mishap in past 24hrs, state government spokesperson said that death toll increased to 383 and cummelated rain loss increased 2009 Crore. The rainfall claimed five lives as four died in roads accidents and one due to falling from height. Two dies in Chamba and one each in Mandi, Lahaul-Spiti and Shimla district. Around 69 roads, 398 Power transmission lines and eight water schemes disrupted by the rain. Two shops and each Kachha houses were damaged by the fresh rain and flashflood. Apple picking which is in full swing in high altitude areas of Shimla, Kinnaur, Chamba and Lahaul-Spiti district affected for last four days. Rakesh Chauhan prominent apple Growers of Chopal sub division of Shimla district said that not a single box of apple could be harvest for last four days as rainfall is not allowing the labor to move to orchard. In n Shimla district about 30 link roads and 350 power supply lines are disrupted by the heavy rains. 15 Roads are affected in Kangra district and 35 power lines are off in Lahaul Spiti district. This rain season which almost extended more than three months took death toll of 383 People and 697 People injured. 62 each person’s died in the rainy season in Mandi and Shimla district and 40 in Ina and Chamba district. 38 each die in Sirmaur and Kullu district. 29 People died in Kangra and 24 in Solan district. In the monsoon 24 paccha and 148 kachha House and 170 shops were completely damaged. State reported maximum cumulative loss 9s Rs 2093 Crore including maximum loss of around Rs 772 cr in Mand and Rs 644 Cr in Chamba district to state and private property. State reported 201 roads accident due to poor and rain affected roads and nine people who are missing in the rain related mishap. 19 People have killed in landslides 25 from snake bites and 13 due to electrocution, three each in flashflood and lightening. Centre Government has released About Rs 250 Crore to hill state under natural climate relief funds and national interdepartmental teams have accessed the rain loss recently.
