Weather Outlook for Himachal Pradesh: Mix of Wet and Dry Conditions Ahead

Anticipate a blend of wet and dry weather patterns in Himachal Pradesh over the next fortnight, as forecasted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Expect a medley of rain, thunderstorms, snowfall, and intermittent dry spells.

Chilling conditions persist in the mid and high hills, exacerbated by recent snowfall. The capital city maintains an average temperature hovering around 13-14°C, which further drops with rainfall.

Today may witness light rain or snowfall in select mid-high reaches and isolated lower areas. The state is likely to remain damp and overcast for the next five days, barring April 17.

Though the intensity of rain and snowfall may vary, brace for another notable wet episode on April 19 across various regions, with isolated pockets experiencing thunderstorms and lightning.

The convergence of a cyclonic circulation and two western disturbances is driving these weather phenomena, with another significant western disturbance anticipated to affect northwest India starting April 18th.

With temperatures rising in the plains, tourist influx is on the rise, potentially leading to crowded public spaces. The recent inauguration of the Manali-Attal Tunnel and Keylong road has bolstered tourism in Manali, albeit high altitude areas remain inaccessible due to snowbound roads in Lahaul Spiti.

Tuesday witnessed hazy to sunny conditions with lingering light clouds. Meanwhile, farmers in the plains have commenced wheat and gram crop harvesting, while those in the mid-hills have approximately a month left for Rabi crop harvesting.
