Vote on July 10 to strengthen democracy: Sukhu
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has said that all voters should vote in maximum numbers on July 10 in the by-elections being held for three assembly seats in the state. He said that all voters should cast their votes to strengthen democracy. The BJP conspired to topple an elected government using money and power and got independent MLAs to resign under a deal. This is the first time in history that independent MLAs sat on a dharna and went to court to get their resignations accepted. He said that independent MLAs have sold themselves in the political market set up by the BJP and imposed these by-elections on the public, so it is time to teach them a lesson. The Chief Minister said that this election is between truth and falsehood, honesty and dishonesty and I have full faith that the voters will go with truth and honesty. He said that the number of Congress party MLAs in the Vidhan Sabha is 38 and after the results of these by-elections, the number of Congress MLAs will reach 41. He said that the Congress government has three and a half years of tenure left and the voters of Nalagarh, Dehra, and Hamirpur will choose development.
Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that in the last one and a half years, the Congress government has added a new chapter to public welfare and has made schemes to solve the problems of the common people. He said that the Congress government has given OPS to the employees, and given a pension of Rs 1500 per month to women, to stop which Jairam Thakur and other BJP leaders went to the Election Commission. He said that we have started education in English medium from the first class in all government schools, created a startup fund of Rs 680 crore for unemployed youth and Himachal Pradesh has become the first state in the country to give minimum support price on milk. He said that the Congress government has increased the rate of cow milk from Rs 32 to Rs 45 and the rate of buffalo milk from Rs 47 to Rs 55. Apart from this, four percent DA has been given to the employees, Rs 1000 diet money has been given to the police personnel.
The Chief Minister said that the previous BJP government gave only 20 thousand government jobs in its entire tenure, most of which were stuck in court and legal complications. Whereas the Congress government has created opportunities for more than 28000 government jobs in just one and a half years of tenure. Our government has made provision for free treatment to the elderly above 70 years of age, free education to children of widows up to 27 years and financial assistance of three lakh rupees for building houses. We have increased the MNREGA daily wage to Rs 300. Along with this, more than one lakh cases of transfer and about 8000 cases of partition have been settled through Revenue Lok Adalats. For the first time in the history of the state, the minimum support price of apple and mango has been increased by a historic one and a half rupees to Rs 12 per kg.
