Vikramaditya Singh inaugurates inter-college women’s football tournament
Public Works, Youth Services, and Sports Minister Shri Vikramaditya Singh inaugurated the three-day first inter-college women’s football tournament at the sports ground of Himachal Pradesh University here today.
In his address, he said that the present state government is ready to encourage women towards sports the sports quota in the state has been increased from three percent to five percent and importance is being given to the development of sports infrastructure in rural areas so that Rural talents are getting a chance to prove themselves at the national and international level.
He called upon the parents to encourage their children towards physical development and congratulated the 16 teams participating in the women’s football tournament and described the spirit of sports as paramount.
Vikramaditya Singh congratulated the Indian women players on their excellent performance in the Asian Games China and said that the Rural Olympiad will soon be organized in the state so that players coming from rural areas can get a chance to showcase their skills.
He said that the vacant posts of coaches will soon be filled in the state and the sports infrastructure at the district level will be strengthened.
Earlier, Pro VC Himachal Pradesh University Rajendra Verma welcomed the chief guest and informed him about various sports activities of the university.
