Vehicular traffic disrupted on Hindustan-Tibet National highway in Himachal due to land slide

Vehicular traffic remained suspended at Badal area near Jeori of Rampur subdivision of Shimla district on Hindustan- Tibet National Highway -5 in Himachal after a heavy landslide closed the road , state official confirmed. State Disaster Management Authority in charge Mr Sudesh Mokta said that a landslide occurred on Badal near Jeori Rampur, Distt Shimla on Sunday the bee busy road owing to apple season and other vehicular traffic could not restored till filing of this report.


A land slide also occurred near Shivalik Institute Bhatta Kuffar in Shimla town at 1745 hrs on Sunday on NH-5. 
He said that vehicular traffic is open for one way traffic. Restoration work is on war footing. He said that one JCB or earth mover was deployed to clear the road. Subdivision Officer National Highway is deployed on the road to clear the landslides  

No Human and other loss reported in the mishap . The District Administration has deployed earthmover and loader machines for restoration of roads. a  long queue of vehicles could be seen on both sides of landslides waiting to clear the road. He said that incessant rainfall is continue in the state affected 28 roads , 12 power distribution transformers and six water supply schemes in last 24 hrs. 14 roads, are blocked in Mandi district, 13 in Kullu and one in Chamba.
Total accumulated loss caused increased to Rs 1000 Cr and loss of life about 382 people and 668 live stocks have been reported in the rainy season.  About 195 people died in rain related mishap 54 in the landslide and 33 in drowning and rest in others mishap in the monsoon season. 


The incessant rainfall lashed many parts of state on Sunday as  Ghamroor had 77 mm rainfall in Kangra district Sangraha in Sirmaur-35 mm Jogindernagar in Mandi 35 mm Kandaghat in Solan -25 mm, Gohar in Mandi & Hamirpur 24  mm each, Banjar in Kullu 23 mm, Nurpur kangra , Shimla & Sundernagar in Mandi -22  mm each. Kotkhai in Shimla 21 mm, Narkanda-20 mm, Khadrala-19 mm, Solan-18 mm , Rampur in Shimla & Dolhousiein Chamba 17 mm each, Kheri, Jubbal Hatti & Kufri in Shmla 15  mm each, Chamba-14 mm , Mashobra in Shimla 13 mm, Pandoh   & Mandi-11 mm, Kothi in Kullu, Kasol and Gaggal  & Dharmshala in Kangra 10 mm eachNalagarh in Solan, Dehra Gopipur in Kangra, Saharan in Sirmaur & Gondla in Lahaul spiti -9  mm each.


Warning of heavy rain and thunderstorm is being issued in the state during next 24 hrs till this midnight. The Met office forecast rain in many places of foothills, few places in the mid and isolated places in the high reaches in next 24 hrs. The South West Monsoon system is active in the state.
