Ujjwal Una campaign launched to make plastic-free Una

Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal has launched the ‘Ujjwal Una’ campaign, aiming to make Una district free of plastic waste. The initiative was officially started at an event held at the DRDA Auditorium on Wednesday. This campaign will implement a four-level disposal process for managing plastic waste. Initially, garbage will be collected from homes in each panchayat and taken to a segregation unit at the Gram Panchayat level for proper disposal. Subsequently, waste from multiple panchayats will be sent to a micro-segregation unit at the cluster level, then to a block-level unit, and finally to industrial units for further use.

The Deputy Commissioner urged all development section officers and Panchayat representatives to ensure the campaign’s successful implementation. He emphasized that the campaign would help make the district plastic waste-free and integrate cleanliness into daily life, highlighting the importance of changing people’s attitudes towards hygiene and encouraging community participation.
