Two laborers died and five others injured in landslide with stone crusher near Junga
Two laborers died after being buried under the debris of a house due to a massive landslide with a stone crusher near Ashwani Khad on Junga-Mehli road. According to sources, the accident occurred at around 1 am last night when two laborers were sleeping on the upper floor of a two-storey house with a stone crusher and five other laborers were sleeping on the lower floor. Due to a sudden landslide at night, the lantern on the upper floor of the house broke and two Bihari laborers sleeping in it got buried and died. Who have been identified as Rakesh (34) and Rajesh (36). While the other injured include Baijnath Ram (34), Rahul (18), Megh Sahni (42), Ashok Kumar (45) and Tony Kumar (20) Chamba.
Company Commander of Home Guard Junga, Dinesh Thakur said that information about this accident was received at around 4 in the morning and he reached the spot along with the Home Guard soldiers. Apart from this, SDRF, police and fire brigade teams had reached the spot. As soon as information about the accident was received, DC Shimla Anupam Kashyap, ADM Ajit Bhardwaj and SDM Rural Kavita Thakur, DSP Shimla and other officers reached the spot and rescue operations were started. In this operation that lasted for about an hour, the bodies of both the laborers were taken out and their dead bodies were taken to IGMC Shimla for post-mortem. Where after post-mortem their bodies were handed over to the family members.
DC Shimla Anupam Kashyap conducted the rescue and relief work at the incident site under his supervision and expressed deep grief over the burial of two laborers who died in this accident. He consoled his other family members and friends. The administration provided immediate relief to the family members as per the relief rules.
Rural Development Minister Ani Singh expressed deep grief over this incident and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.
