There will be no cultural night this time at the Junga Dussehra Fair
The Dussehra fair is celebrated in Junga since the princely times will remain dull this time. For the first time, clouds of crisis have loomed over the organization of the Dussehra fair due to the lack of a suitable venue. Perhaps this will be the first time that no cultural activities will be held in this district-level Dussehra fair. There has been a lot of disappointment among the people regarding this matter. According to local people, the Dussehra fair has been celebrated in the school grounds of Junga since the princely times. The Honorable High Court has banned organizing fairs, religious and political events, etc. in educational institutions. However, for the past many years, the administration has been taking permission from the Honorable High Court to organize the fair on the school grounds. Since schools remain closed due to gazetted and local holidays falling during Dussehra. This time the matter had reached the Honorable High Court but due to the prosecution chamber not presenting the case properly, permission could not be obtained due to which the fair committee faced a lot of problems regarding organizing the fair.
Tehsildar Junga and fair officer Ravindra Sisodia said that permission has not been received from the Honorable High Court to organize the fair on the school premises. Due to this the fair committee has decided to organize the fair in the police ground but the police administration has clearly refused to organize Lanka Dahan and cultural activities on this ground. Due to this cultural programs will not be organized in the fair this time. He said that bridges of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnad will be installed at the taxi stand for Lanka Dahan. He said that due to a lack of suitable places, the committee has now decided to celebrate this three-day fair for two days. On October 24, Lanka Dahan was organized near the taxi stand, and on October 25, wrestling and women’s tug-of-war competitions was organized at the police ground.
State President of Kisan Sabha, Dr. Kuldeep Tanwar, while expressing his reaction in this regard, said that while the government talks about the preservation of ancient fairs for the expansion of tourism activities, on the other hand, it has expressed surprise about the appropriate place for the Dussehra fair of Junga this time. He said that Junga Dussehra has been celebrated on the school grounds since time immemorial. This time the administration has failed to present this case properly in the Honorable High Court. He said that Junga Dussehra is a symbol of the faith of the 12 panchayats of the area. The government should have intervened in the conservation of this cultural heritage.
