Synoptic features indicate a major spell of snow and rain on November 27 by IMD
Indian Meteorological Department forecast calm weather conditions this week but synoptic features indicate that a major spell of snow and rain could occur on Monday, November 27 leading to a sudden dip in the mercury.
IMD said that currently Northern Western Himalayan states are facing foggy weather in the wee hours but minimum and maximum temperature was mainly normal. Maximum temperature is likely to show slight improvement in the next two to three days however next week Western disturbances are likely to hit several parts of Northern Western Himalayan and it could bring a major spell of snow and rain with effect from November 27 afternoon onwards.
The WDs are likely to affect dry weather conditions from November 26 as it could be partly cloudy to mainly overcast however, tourists and local commuters who are booked to the hill station of Himachal Pradesh witnessed pleasant weather till next week as it would be pleasant weather during the day time till November 25.
The cold wave may affect the state from October 27 to 28 and mercury would be normal from November 29 to 30. Early advancement of snowfall may intensify the coldwave in December as the sunny hours are scheduled to be reduced till December 25 and the state may have a snowy Christmas and New Year.
According to IMD Synoptic features the WDs as a trough in mid-tropospheric levels now runs roughly along Long. 60°E to the north of Lat. 30°N at 5.8 km above mean sea level and a fresh major WD likely to affect Northwest & West India from 25th November.
Driver and commuters should mind speed while driving in the hills as IMD warned that including plains many northwestern states reeling under foggy conditions likely to intensify within the next few days as a passenger may face delay in the movement of train leading to traffic congestion due to sudden decline of visibility due to foggy weather conditions till this week ends.
The minimum temperature stayed several degrees below freezing point in the tribal area as Kaza was the coldest in the state at minus six degrees.
It was around minus three in Keylong Headquarters of Lahaul Spiti district and minus 2.3 in Samdho, Kalpa in Kinnaur 2.8 degrees, Manali and Bhuntar airport three, Solan 4.8, Mandi and tourists resort Narkanda 5.8, Chamba 7, Tourists resort Kufri, Dalhousie, Shimla eight, Dharmshala, Kangr, and Shimla airport nine degrees.
