Suresh Kashyap raised the issue of laying overhead optical fibre

BJP MP Suresh Kashyap informed under Rule 377 that there is a need to lay overhead optical fibre (OFC) from Paonta Sahib – Sataun – Kamrau – Kafota – Shillai – Hatkoti – Shimla as there is no OFC in this remote area. This will connect Shimla via Rohru and provide alternate connectivity to Shimla – Paonta/Dehradun. He informed that Shimla-Chandigarh shortest route is more than 80% complete. Hence new overhead OFC is required via Kandaghat- Solan- Dharampur- Parwanoo. Old cable has been completely damaged due to Chandigarh NH extension work and both are backbone OFC routes for Himachal Pradesh. No new cable work has been done in Himachal Pradesh for the last more than 20 years.

Kashyap said in the Lok Sabha that Sir, a new overhead cable should be laid from Nalagarh-Baddi-Parwanoo because the very old cable has been badly damaged in the NH expansion work. Baddi- Nalagarh-Parwanoo is the main industrial center of Himachal Pradesh. Therefore, I request the Honorable Communications Minister and the Honorable Road and Transport Minister to issue orders to the concerned department as soon as possible keeping in mind the above problems.
