Snowfall at high reaches of Himachal, Mercury stays above normal

Himachal Pradesh experienced fresh spell of snowfall in high reaches Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnuar, Kullu and Shimla district and light rainfall in Kullu, Mandi, Shimla district unexpectedly Mercury stayed above normal in past 24 hrs. Indian Meteorological Department said that Kothi,(Kullu) had 20 cm Snowfall Kalpa (Kinnaur 16.6 cm,Gondla (Lahaul-Spiti) 13.5 cm, Keylong and Kukumseri five cm, Khadrala 5 cm. Snowflake were recorded in Tourist resort Kufri and Manali had 23 mm rain. Banjar – 19 mm , Seobagh & Jogindernagar (Mandi) – 17 mm each , Bhunter (Kullu) – 13 mm , Bajaura – 7 mm , Rampur(Shimla) – 6  mm, Shimla & Rohru – 4 mm each , Theog & Pandoh(Mandi) – 3  mm each. Despite inclement weather Minmum and Maximum temperature stays above normal. However Manali- Leh National Highway ( NH – 003 ) Darcha- Shinkula road,  Pangi Killar Highway ( SH – 26 ) and Kaza road (NH-505)  from Graphu to Kaza and Sumdo to Losar are closed for all types of Lahaul-Spiti district administration warned People that  local people and tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary travel in case of snowfall. Minimum temperature of Shimla 4.8 degrees  Sundernagar 7.7 degree, Kalpa minus 1.4  degrees Dharamshala 11.2, Nahan 13.3, Una 9,Keylong minus 4.7, Solan 7, Manali 2 4, Kangra 11.5 Mandi 8.6, Bilaspur 8, Hamirpur 10,  Chamba 8.5 Dalhousie 4.6, Jubberhatti airport 9.5, Kufri 3 and Narakanda 1.3 degrees respectively. Met office forecast mainly dry weather in next 24 hrs however another western disturbance likely to be impact the weather from February 14 onwards.
