SIT constitue to probe the conduct SHO

Himachal Pradesh Police which is currently on receiving ends over persistent Protest by its 5100 plus constables tried to set house in order by ordering probe by a special investigation team (SIT) to look into recent incident involving SHO Nadaun Neeraj Rana who was absconding after giving slip to state vegilance and anti corruption seauth missing after a graft charges.
An order issued by the State Director General of Police Mr Sanjay Kundu to Superintendent of Police Hamirpur here today said that SIT has been constitued regarding arrest of Inspector Neeraj Rana  to set up an SIT for nabbing the absconding Inspector Neem Rana .  

 ” In view of the recent incident involving Inspector Neeraj Rana , the then SHO Nadaun , DGPHP held a video conference ( VC ) with all the SHO SPs , Range IGs, DIG and other senior officers  of HP Police.  
After addressing the SHOs and other officers on VC , DGP issued  instructions for strict compliance of arrest of Neeraj Rana.
DGP ordered to  sent of absconding to SP Economic Offence Wing(EOW) for taking up the issue further with Enforcement Directorate ( ED ) for an exemplary action.

DGP order that Other SPs , especially SP Una ( an Inspector Neeraj Rana belongs to District Una ) to assist SP Hamirpur in nabbing the absconding Police official  

Regarding posting of new SHOs in the districts, Mr Kundu said that SPs should apply due diligence while posting officials at key posts like that of an SHO, SPs should post SHOs on the bass of merit and professionalism and not act on mere Poltical recommendation without checking their credentials.
SPs should carry out a 360  degrees review on the working , neutrality , integrity of an official before posting him / her at such a key posting. 
The order said that to achieve this end they may contact the previous SPs of the official concerned . 
 He also asked the PHQ to create a pool of officials based on their merit , professional integrity and past records which could help SP in taking an informed decision while posting officials at key posts 
Instructions was also passed in Vedio conference that to fill the Vacancy of Sub – inspectors and Inspectors in the districts  on priority so that SPs have sufficient strength to choose from them on the basis of merit for such key and sensitive posts.

  There is a need for SPs to keep a check on the working of SIUs as well, need to  ensure filling of regular property returns by all SHOs to keep a check on corruption, and SPs to get drug test of doubtful officials , especially those posted on key posts in the narcotics abuse probe areas, , the order added.
