SIRD staff plant saplings in Craignano

With an aim to promote environmental sustainability and green cover, Himachal Pradesh State Rural Development Institute Shimla organized a one day plantation drive at Craignano on Wednesday. In this programme, about 80 persons undergoing training under various programmes at the institute including officers and staff of SIRD, PRTI Mashobra and RGSA planted saplings of different species. Plastic waste was collected for safe disposal. The participants took an oath to take care of the saplings in future also.
Vijay Bragta, Deputy Director of the Institute, said that the aim of the plantation drive is to increase the green capacity of the area and create awareness about the importance of afforestation. He said that such activities have a significant impact on creating awareness about environmental protection. He also said that this activity was part of social education practice.
He said that the plantation programme provided a platform for the participants to understand the importance of tree plantation in mitigating climate change, conserving biodiversity and improving air quality. The programme inculcated a sense of environmental responsibility among the participants and motivated them to become active contributors towards a greener future.
Bragta said that Himachal Pradesh State Rural Development Institute is committed to organize such eco-friendly initiatives in future and motivate the community to adopt sustainable practices. Shimla-based social worker Ishu Thakur also attended the event.
