Shimla town receives first snowfall of the season
Shimla town received first spell of snowfall in this season as Ten to 15 cm snowfall record in the town this afternoon.
Tourist and local people are thrilled over the snowfall and subsequent sleet in the town. According to Yash Dogra Sanjuli had around 30 cm snowfall and near by tourists resort Kufri about 45 cm .
Vehicular traffic disrupted between Chhota Shimla and Sanjuli and Lakar Bazar to Dhalli. Snow was cleared by the administration from the roads after one hours.
Public Works Department was facing major hardship to keep open Dhalli-kufri roads and for the first time Calcuim chloride sprayers are used to keep open the roads.
After heavy snowfall at Narkanda and Kufri vehicular traffic is temporarily closed on Hindustan Tibet National Highway -22.
In the district Shimla 13 roads are close as Dhali-Kufri-Fagu road us snowbound Khadapathar Shilpani-Khadapathar, Rohru to Sungri, Chirgaon to Tangnu, Chirgaon to Rohal, Chirgaon to Larot, Deha to Chopal, Khidki to Maraog, Sarahan to Pulbahal Narkanda to Oddi, Narkanda to Kotgarh and Dodrakawar Rohru road are snow bound at Chanshal.
Shimla Jakhu hillgot about 20 cm snowfall and Mall road ten cm however in the lowling area of Shimla had light snowfall which partly affected the movement of traffic.
According to Met Office ongoing weather activity would reduce gradually in the districts of Shimla,Kullu,Chamba,Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti gradually by 8-9 pm ( 2000 to 2100 grs tonight) with significant reduction by 11 PM ( 2300 hrs).
The weather activity has already reduced gradually from districts of Kangra,Una,Bilaspur,Hamirpur ,Solan ,Sirmaur,Mandi with possibility of isolated events on thunderstorm/hail in these districts in next 2-3 hours.
The weather is likely to remain mainly dry tomorrow with isolated events of rain and weather activity is likely to pick up in intensity and distribution wef evening of 3rd Feb with precipitation to occur at many places in the State on 3rd and 4th Feb.
