Shimla Sees Cooler Temperatures with Fresh Rainfall; Weather Alerts Issued Across Himachal
Shimla experienced a refreshing dip in temperatures on Saturday as light rain swept through the city, adding a crisp chill to the already mild weather. Although the capital city wasn’t grappling with high temperatures, the showers made the atmosphere even more pleasant, creating a perfect backdrop for a cozy weekend. The sky remained cloudy throughout the day, with occasional drizzle further enhancing the cool ambiance.
Looking ahead, the Meteorological Department has predicted more rain for most parts of Himachal Pradesh until August 29. A yellow alert has been issued for August 27 and 28, warning residents of potential disruptions due to expected heavy rainfall.
The Manali region is already feeling the brunt of this weather shift. Heavy rains overnight caused debris to accumulate in the snow gallery on the Manali-Leh road early Thursday around 2 a.m. A landslide in Dhundhi further complicated the situation, leading to a nearly seven-hour closure of the Manali-Leh road, causing significant delays and inconvenience for travelers.
Across the state, 40 roads and 14 transformers remain non-operational due to the adverse weather conditions, impacting local communities and essential services. Authorities are working diligently to clear the debris and restore connectivity, but residents and travelers are advised to exercise caution.
Also saw similar weather in Dharamshala and Manali, with light drizzles marking the beginning of what is expected to be a mixed weather pattern across Himachal Pradesh.
