Shimla Rajya Sabha Seat

Election Commission of India released  the Election schedule of  a Rajya Sabha seat falling vacant on April 02, 2022, State Chief electoral officer C Paulrasu said in a press release issued here today. He said that notification would be issued by the ECI on March 14, 2022 to fill a lone seat of Rajaya Sabha in Himachal  as a result of the retirement of Congress Member of Rajaya Sabha  Anand Sharma at the end of his term. Secretary of Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly has been designated as Returning Officer and Deputy Secretary, Legislative Assembly Himachal Pradesh as Assistant Returning Officer.  The candidates would have to deposit security of Rs.10,000 for general and Rs 5000 for  SC and ST categories as last date of filling nomination is on Mar 21, date of scrutiny on Mar 22, last date for withdrawal of nominations 24 and  Voting and counting of votes would be held at  Dr. Y S Parmar  Library in Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Complex Shimla on March 31, 2022 and entire Election process would be completed before April 2.
