Shimla Police cracks down on the drug network of the notorious Radhe Gang

In a major breakthrough against drug smuggling in Himachal Pradesh, Shimla Police have successfully dismantled the notorious Radhe Gang, which has long been involved in trafficking chitta (heroin) from Punjab to Rampur. This follows the recent arrest of members from the Shahi Mahatma Gang, as authorities ramp up efforts to combat the growing drug menace in the region.

The operation unfolded when Rampur Police arrested Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Maholi in Kumarsain, District Shimla, and seized 47.74 grams of chitta from him. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Kumar was part of a larger drug smuggling network, orchestrated by the Radhe Gang, which stretches across Himachal and Punjab. The gang’s leader, Dalip Kumar, known as Radhe, was arrested in Baddi, Solan, where he had been living and running the operation.

Dalip, also a resident of Maholi, Kumarsain, had been managing this drug trafficking ring for several years, smuggling chitta from Punjab and distributing it across the Rampur area. Authorities estimate that between 20 and 30 individuals are involved in the gang, with more arrests expected as the investigation continues.

To fully dismantle this network, a special investigation team led by DSP Rampur has been formed. Their mission is to apprehend all members of the gang and curb the further spread of drugs in the region, safeguarding Himachal’s youth from the devastating impact of addiction.

A Growing Threat to Youth

Drug smuggling and addiction have become alarming issues in Shimla district, with gangs like Radhe and Shahi Mahatma playing a central role in fueling this crisis. The increased availability of chitta has led to a surge in drug abuse among the youth, resulting in tragic losses of young lives due to overdoses.

Shimla Police have responded with an intensified campaign to target these drug trafficking rings. However, the battle is far from over, as the problem persists. SP Shimla, Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi, emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, “The Radhe Gang has been active in Rampur for a long time, and we are determined to bring all its members to justice. This is an interstate chitta smuggling network, and we anticipate making many more arrests in the coming days.”

While these recent operations mark significant victories, the ongoing availability and use of chitta in Shimla district remain a major concern. The police are committed to eradicating these networks, but the task of shielding the region’s youth from the deadly clutches of addiction continues to be a challenging fight.

As the investigation deepens, Shimla Police are determined to not only dismantle existing drug operations but also prevent the emergence of new ones. Their relentless efforts aim to secure a safer, drug-free future for the region’s young generation, protecting them from the devastating effects of chitta and other narcotics.
