Shand Mahayagya concludes with Dev Puja at Dev Junga Temple Banog
The Shand Mahayagya of Dev Junga Banog Thund ended on Saturday with traditional deity worship. On the occasion of Shand Mahayagya, the newly constructed temple was decorated like a bride. Bhandari Inder Singh Thakur and Kardar Ranjit Singh Thakur of the temple committee told that there is an ancient temple of Dev Junga in Banog which is about two centuries old, after its renovation, Shand Mahayagya has been organized in which thousands of people of Keonthal area visited the temple of Dev Junga. Ranjit Thakur told that in this Mahayagya, apart from deity Ghanena Junga, deity Dhanchand Thund, hundreds of people including the fourth Ishta of the then Keonthal state and the Kardars of 24 Devathis including Raja Khush Vikram Singh Sen and Rajmata Vijay Jyoti Sen participated. As per tradition, Shanda Mahayagya Dev Puja was organized for the purification of this newly constructed temple and the restoration of the deity. In which Kurudh was established last night at an auspicious time. To prepare this, on 29th February, all the devotees of the deity went to Satlai forest and on 1st March, Kurudh was cut and brought.
