SFI Protests Against Exam Irregularities and Corruption

The Student Federation of India (SFI) Himachal Pradesh State Committee has staged a protest against the widespread irregularities and corruption in the competitive exams conducted under the Modi government. Recently, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has once again demonstrated its incompetence in organizing national-level exams. The latest issue in a series of serious corruption and discrepancies is the postponement of the NEET PG exam.

The results of the NEET UG exam announced on June 4 were plagued by transparency issues and complaints of paper leaks. Following this, the UGC NET exam, in which millions of students participated, was canceled due to reports of discrepancies and paper leaks. The NTA also postponed the NET exam, initially scheduled for the following week of the UGC NET, further eroding trust in its functioning. Additionally, the National Board of Examination of Medical Sciences, which operates under the Ministry of Health, decided to postpone the NEET-PG entrance exams at the last moment due to various types of paper leaks and irregularities.

Despite 30 to 35 lakh vacant positions in various departments, recruitment is not happening. At the same time, exams conducted by bodies formed by the Modi government, including NEET and UGC NET, are mired in irregularities. SFI believes that the irregularities in the UGC NET exam are apparent. In Himachal Pradesh, the exam was organized at several centers, and observers were appointed to ensure impartial conduct. However, most of the appointed teachers were related to the BJP and RSS ideologies.

Through this protest, SFI makes the following demands:

  1. The NTA system should be abolished.
  2. The Union Education Minister should resign.
  3. Students who recently appeared for the NEET and NET exams should be compensated by the central government.
  4. The newly adopted system of mandatory NET scores for PhD admissions should be revoked.

SFI calls for the closure of institutions like NTA, the resignation of the Union Education Minister of India on moral grounds, and an independent investigation of these scams under the supervision of a current judge of the Honorable Supreme Court.
