SFI has expressed concern over the irregularities in PhD admissions
SFI has expressed concern that the series of irregularities in the PhD admissions in Himachal Pradesh University is not stopping. In the last case, the Dean of Studies of the University admitted in the Hon’ble Court without being called that Himachal Pradesh University has not followed the PhD admission procedure as per the UGC rules in which 50% of the questions in the question paper should have been subject-related and 50% research-related. But the Dean of Studies presented incomplete facts in the Hon’ble Court because in the PhD entrance examination conducted for about 147 seats in 23 departments, the question papers of any subject were not set as per the UGC rules in which 50% of the questions were asked on research methodology. Then why was the examination of only one subject, physical, cancelled. It appears from this that the Dean of Studies BK Shivram is a part of some corrupt system and he should be removed from the post immediately.
Today, a case of fraud in PhD admission came to light in the Department of Biosciences where as per the advertisement dated 12.3.2024, three seats were filled on 12.6.2024 and after a month, another seat was filled on 18.7.2024.
The matter is very serious. When the admission process of a department is complete, then where did the dream of filling the seats after a month come from? Action should be taken against the Head of the Department and Dean of Studies B.K. Shivram. Why are these people cheating the common students? There is no one to ask. They prepare files and from there they write online that action should be taken as per rules from Dharamshala, but everything that happens is against the rules. They have become so impudent that they do not fear any law and PhD seats are being bought and sold on the basis of nepotism. Otherwise why would they do unethical work after sitting on such responsible posts on the basis of DO note. SFI demands that this PhD admission done in a fraudulent manner should be rejected immediately and why such corrupt activities are taking place in PhD admission, an investigation should be conducted and the culprits should be punished.
