Sexual harrssment of Student: Accuse College Principal gets bail
Principal of govt post Graduate Degree College Seema booked in alleged allegations of sexual harassment and stalking of college student released on the bail by the High court of Himachal Pradesh here today
The single bench of justice Ajay Mohan Goel granted anticipatory bail to accuse Brigesh Chauhan Principal of Seema College who was booked under section 354A (Sexual harassment of the nature of unwelcome physical contact and advances) and 354 D (Stalking) of IPC at police station Rohru on the complaint of the members of sexual harrasment and woman empowerment cell of the college on Dec 25, a police official confirmed.
DSP Rohru Sandeep Thakur said that accused got anticipatory bail till next Monday. He said that victim is minor and police verified the birth certificate of victim today.
After the verification of birth certificate police added section 11 & 12 of POSCO Act in the FIR. He said that both sections of IPC added to FIR was bailable however after addition of Sec 11 & 12 in FIR Police would oppose the regular bail to accuse on next Monday.
He said that in the complaint members of this college woman empowerment Committee alleged that a BA 1ST year student went to Principal of college Brigesh Chauhan to fill the scholarship form but he advised her to call him.
When she called him after some time he talked in a very immodest, vulgar and unwanted way and used a very obscene and objectionable language.
In the complaint it is also said that he also made objectionable remarks about the character of female teachers.
The girl student recorded the whole conversion and sent it to the women empowerment cell of the college. After the preliminary enquiry, this cell took a decision to lodge an FIR.
“Police have recorded the statements of some the concerned and no arrest has been made yet.” said an official from Rohru police station.
Police official said that there was absolutely vulgar language in the recording sent to the police with the complaint.
This Principal was beaten by the locals earlier too but police did not get any complaint at that time, he maintained.
