Save Public Education Forum Shimla organized a seminar on National Education Policy
By mobilizing different political and non-political groups, a convention was organized to prepare the outline of the movement against the attack on public education under the National Education Policy. While addressing the convention, various speakers presented their talks on how Today, through the National Education Policy, the central and state governments are trying to promote communication of education by changing the curriculum along with privatization, commercialization and centralization of education. This National Education Policy aims to destroy the educational structure of the country. The quality of education is being tampered with by using part-time ad-hoc or guest lecturers in place of regular teachers or through online classes. Not only this, this education policy is trying to impose subjects on students in the name of the choice-based credit system. This National Education Policy is a contradictory document. On one hand, it is said in the document that after the implementation of NEP, the government will spend 6% of the GDP on education, but on the other hand, it is said that for the salaries of teachers and non-teaching staff, the government will spend 6% of the budget. Pay Commission recommends that the government bear only 70% of the salary and 30% of the institutions will have to mobilize their resources, which will have a direct impact in the future in the form of fee hikes or increases in the fees of students in the name of different charges. It can be seen that through this National Education Policy, an attempt is being made to eliminate the financial assistance that students coming from tribal or backward sections of society were getting till now through scholarships. This education policy On the one hand, talks about achieving the target of a 33% gross enrollment ratio, but on the other hand, due to this policy, limited seats are being arranged in universities and colleges. Most of the students are admitted to higher education through various entrance examinations. An attempt is being made to remove the fact that by making the entrance system mandatory for entrance examinations, an attempt is being made to promote the coaching mafia in the country. Along with this, BJP and RSS are propagating their ideology through this National Education Policy. To tamper with history, efforts are being made to make changes in the school curriculum, college and university curriculum and by removing the factual and scientific education system from the curriculum, non-democratic, non-scientific, and conservative education is being served. An attempt is being made to rewrite this National Education Policy. This National Education Policy is working to promote privatization. Through this National Education Policy, there is going to be a big attack on the rights of the states and the federal structure of the country will be abolished and centralized. Efforts are being made to implement the education system in the country, hence people in Himachal Pradesh as well as in different corners of the country are raising their voices against this anti-student and anti-national education policy. In this context, this convention is being held today in which Around 120 representatives from various organizations across the district participated in the meeting held in Shimla in which an Organizing Committee was also formed which will consider from time to time the future strategy which will be against this National Education Policy.
