Satluj , Chndra Bhaga river rising in Himachal
Incessant rains have been causing havoc in the hill state as
Currently three rivers overflowing above danger marks including Satluj and Chandra-tributary
of Chenab river in Lahaul area of the district of Himachal Pradesh.
Deputy Commissioner Lahaul Spiti Mr Neeraj Kumar said that Bhaga river originates from the base of Baralacha pass from Surajtal overflowing above danger marks.
As per information provided by Police check post Darcha in Lahaul Sub Division (Lahaul & Spiti District),
on Tuesday around 1815hrs water level in Bhaga river increased considerably due to heavy rainfall,
impacting three shops nearby the river bank.
DC warned that all the people having homes lying near the river bank have been safely evacuated by the Police personnel
of Darcha Check Post. Police Personnel of various units are monitoring the situation and sending back tourists to safe location, informed authorities. Traffic movement has been stopped in safe places.
The construction wing of Indian Armed forces, Border Road Organisation(BRO) said that Chandigarh Manali
National Highway -3 would remain off for next 12 hours, as the conditions are not safe for road clearance
at the moment. Ladakh bound traffic is being sent back to Manali.
The Monsoon rain have been wreak havoc in the hill state as a running car was hit by a boulder
injuring one person in Kangra. On Sunday nine tourist were killed and three injured when boulders
came down a hill due to landslide in Sangla valley Kinnaur district. Earlier to this 16 to 17 people were died in\
landslides and dorwing in Shahpur subdivision of Kangra district.
Nathpa river tributary of Sutlej and Chandra tributary of Chenab are flowing above danger mark, however others dams and rivers are
inflated but blowing near and below danger mark , state SDMA said.
Central water commission said that water level of Satluj river recorded at Nathpa in Kinnuar
was rising as it was around 1441.95 meter at 0800 hrs today compared to maximum level of 1442.10 meter
In Lahaul Spiti district water level of Chandra river was recorded at CWC station at Ghoshal was recorded 2854.44 meter
compared to maximum discharge of 2854.60 mm.
Water level of Satluj at Moorang, Rampur, Hansa, Ropa and Sangal was recorded steady by the CWC.
There are report of flash flood, cloud bursts and landslides in the Lahaul and Spiti subdivision of the district
disrupting the movement of traffic on many road .
District Emergency operation Centre said taht due to flash flood incident occurred at Chhota Dara on National
Highway 505 between Sumdo-Kaza -Gramphu road in Lahaul subdivision at 1750 on Tuesday the road has been
blocked.
In another flashflood occured in the tribal district at Changut Village and Udgos Nullah in Subdivision Udaipur
at 1800 hrs on Tuesday the Udaipur road has been blocked. The information received from the Revenue Officer Mayar
said that flash flood incident has occured at Changut village and Udgos Nullah in Subdivision Udaipur BLocking the road and estimation of loss to property is under process.
DEOC also aid that cloud burst at Station Highway No 26 at Jahalma Nullah near Village Jahalama in subdivsion
Udaipur of Lahaul Spiti, around 1828 hrs on Tuesday. No loss of life and property is reported sofar.
A Landslide also occured at State highway 26 at Hawai Mode near Kukumseri in Udaipur subdivision around
1725 hrs the village road has been blocked in the landslide.
A flashflood also occured on the Keylong-Manali National Highway 03 near Keylong village at 1758 hrs on Tuesday
blocking the road . The information has been forwarded to BRO 70 rcc wing for restoration of the highway.
The Met Office have issued red alert in the six districts of Himachal Pradesh as the very heavy to extremely heavy
rainfall would occur in some places along with lighting and thunderstorm which could cause cloud bursts, landslides
and flashflood condition in next three days.
An advisory issued by the DC Lahaul spiti Mr Neeraj Kumar said that heavy rainfall could occur in next 24 hrs in the tribal district .
All the rivnuts and water streams between Udaipur and Pangi and Kaza and Keylong are on inspated and swollen disrupting the vehicular traffic and blocking all major roads in the district, DC said.
Tourists should advised to adopt restrains or precautions before venturing to high altitudes to avoid the journey till roads could not restored in the district, Mr Kumar said.
Vehicular traffic is off between North portal of Rohtang tunnel to Keylong howver BRO swang into restoration of the Manali-Leh highway but would close for next 12 hours.
The advisory is being issued by the administeration to all people including local and tourists to avoid their journey ahead until the weather conditions is inclement in the district. he added.
