Sadbhavna March to take place in Shimla on 27 September
Members of civil society and several progressive organizations of Shimla, including Congress, AAP, and Left Groups, have called for a ‘Sadbhavna March’ on September 27 to spread the message of peace and harmony amid recent communal unrest in Shimla and Himachal Pradesh. Former Mayor and CPI(M) District Secretary, Sanjay Chauhan, addressed a press conference, expressing concern over efforts to disrupt communal harmony and brotherhood in Himachal Pradesh, particularly in Shimla, over the past few days.
We appeal to the people to reach the DC Office, Shimla at 11 am on September 27 and join the Sadbhavna March led by common citizens of Shimla in protest against the efforts being made to create hatred between different communities,” former Mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation Sanjay Chauhan said at a press conference here. He alleged that an atmosphere of communal tension and fear is being created in Shimla by turning the quarrel between two persons into a dispute between two communities.

Chauhan condemned these divisive efforts and emphasized the collective stand taken by various organizations to promote peace and unity in Shimla. He highlighted the importance of maintaining harmony so that all residents of the state can coexist peacefully. He further mentioned that attempts are being made to disturb the otherwise peaceful atmosphere in Shimla, with some groups trying to polarize the society.
Chauhan stated that the Sadbhavna March aims to send a strong message of unity and peace from Shimla to the entire country. He also stressed the need to put an end to the provocative statements coming from different parts of the state, which are fueling tension in the state.
