Sach-pass restored for the movement of light vehicles: DC
Deputy Commissioner, Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, DC Rana informed today that the 14500 feet Sach Pass road has been restored for the movement of light vehicles. In a press release issued here today he said that the frozen snow on the Sach pass road has been cleared and now the Chamba to Kilar via Sach pass route is safe for the movement of light vehicles. People going to Pangi could now directly avail the facility of the Killar via Sach Pass route from Chamba. He warned that commuters should be take care that Sach Pass Pass is the only nearest road connecting Pangi to the district headquarters. For the first time small vehicles were restored in the last week of April with the hard work of Public Works Department employees, officers JCB machine and dozer operators. There is high chance and also expectations among local people to restored the road for bus service in the first week of May. At the same time, MK Thakur, Assistant Engineer, Public Works Department, said that it took a month to restore the Sach Pass Pass. The temperature at Sachpas Pass is around minus 20 to 25 degrees. Snow clearance work is done from about 80 km of road, in which 17 glaciers have to be cut. On the Sachpas pass, the road Administeration have to cleared thick walls of Snow in several meters. He told that about 22 thousand people live in Pangi. There are 19 panchayats here. When it snows, the people of Pangi have to travel via Jammu, which is a very long journey. From here one has to travel for about 600 kilometers long route compared to 175 km, from Chamba to Pangi is about 175 kilometers via Sach Pass.
