Rs 2698 crore has been allocated for Himachal for railway expansion: Mahajan
BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Harsh Mahajan met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. On this occasion, the Rajya Sabha MP had a detailed discussion with the Union Minister about Himachal Pradesh.
He thanked the Central Government saying that the way the Central Government has taken care of Himachal Pradesh is a big thing.
Mahajan said that Himachal has got a special place in the budget in which the Honorable Finance Minister has also mentioned the special help regarding the disaster in Himachal Pradesh, for this heartfelt thanks to the Central Government.
He said that Himachal has received a record budget in this year’s railway budget as well, in the budget for the year 2024-25, Rs 2698 crore has been allocated for Himachal for other developmental works including railway expansion. The budget released for railway development in Himachal Pradesh is 25 times more than the previous UPA government. This will strengthen the rail infrastructure in Himachal. He informed that except for narrow gauge, the railways have completed 100 percent electrification work in Himachal. Four stations including Shimla in the state are being constructed on the basis of world-class standards. Four railway stations in Himachal Pradesh should be made world class railway stations. These include Amb-Andaura, Baijnath Paprola, Palampur, Shimla. The work of Bhanupalli Bilaspur-Bari, Chandigarh-Baddi and Nangal Dam-Talwara rail line is going on at a fast pace. The Railway Minister said that the geographical conditions of the state are quite different, for this work will be done under the Himalayan Tunneling Method. Rs 300 crore has been allocated for the Chandigarh-Baddi rail line project. Earlier, it was also announced in the interim budget. Ambala division DRM Mandeep Singh Bhatia said that the railways had announced this project in the year 2007. This railway line is 33.23 km long. A budget of Rs 500 crore has been released for the Nangal Ham-Talwara railway line and Rs 1700 crore for the Bhanupalli-Bilaspur-Bari railway line.
