Rising of Chenab river renders 52 lakh loss to arable land
District Administration Lahaul Spiti informed that flood and blockage in the Chenab river( Chandrabhaga) after landslide at Nalda Village of Udaipur subdivisions caused loss to Rs 52 lakh to the arable land .
Chief Minsiter Jai Ram Thakur gave a statement in the house that three member committee was
sent to access the cause of mishap and loss caused by the rising of water level. He said that water levelhad started receding at the landslide spot. I have got a call from union home minister Amit Shah who have assured Mr Thakur said that incident of Landslide occurred near near village Nalda Sub division Udaipur District Lahaul & Spiti. In which the flow of Chandra Bhaga River have been blocked. So far no loss of life or property has been reported in this incident.
He said that things are under control and all downstream villages have been evacuated as a preventive measure.The flow of river has opened at around 1054 hrs.
River Chenab was blocked due to a landslide from bank side near Jhunda between Tandi and Jhalma at around 09:30 this morning.The water level increased to 6.27 meter at 0900 hrs to however it receded to 4.65m at 12:30hrs.
Now River flow is going to be normal in upcoming hrs. Currently, two villages namely Tarang and Jasrat have been affected by the pooling of water due to landslide blockage.
Minister Ram Lal Markanda, Chief Secreatry, DGP, along with District Administration visited the incident site and have return back after the assessment.
In this incident 4 house were flooded due to the pooling of water belonged to Sukh Chand, Devi Chand, Ramesh Lal, Prem Lal (2 Pucca House 2 Khacha House) housing 16 members of their families had affected.
These families have been provided with temporary shelter or camp and arrangement for food and blankets have been made. Water has recededfrom the house and clearance same being completed by the ITBP, Karga.
Five cowshed of Vivek, Devi Chand, Shiv Lal, Shiv Chand, Dhani Ram has been washed in the flood water in which one Sheep and one calf got washed away.
Thirty Bigha of agricultural land got flooded and the total estimated loss is of Rs. 52 lakhs. Eighty per cent of river water has started receding. The NDRF team has been requested to be in standby mode at Kullu .
A soil study team has reached at incident site. Four houses which are near to Chandra Bhaga River have been evacuated by local police. District administration has been deployed police personnel, home guard & ITBP, he added.
