Respite from heat wave as Mercury plummet 
Lahaul-Spiti district lashed by heavy rain

People took major respite from heatwave and prolonged draught like condition as it is overcast since morning and rain lashed some places in Lahaul-Spiti and other districts on Thursday, The Met Office said.Heavy rain lashed the Lahaul Valley this afternoon. Manali-Darcha NH-03 and Pangi State Highway 26 is open for all types of vehicles. District Administration advised Tourists to avoid unnecessary travel in the inclement weather. Travel is permitted only in case of utmost emergency. Maximum temperature and heatwave soaring above 40 degrees in some places of Una, Solan and Sirmour give major respite as Maximum temperature recorded 35 degree Celsius at Una on Thursday. Bilaspur 34, Nahan, Kangra & Nahan(Sirmaur) 32, Dharmshala and Solan 30, Hamirpur 31, Shimla 23, Chamba 28,Kufri and Kalpa ( Kinnaur ( 17, Keylong 24 and Dalhousie  11 degrees respectively. The Met Office forecast rain and thunder showers in many places in mid and high reaches and few places in the foothills in next 24 hrs which likely to end two months of prolonged dry spell.
