Rajiv Shukla should apologize for his comment, Mukesh should resign: Jairam Thakur
In a press conference held in Shimla, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur said that the government spent more than 25 crore rupees in celebrating its two-year tenure. But the government did not have a single achievement to show. The two-year tenure is a document of the government’s failures. Shouting from the stage does not change the truth. Therefore, if the minister who resigned has any morality left, he should resign. Because at the time when he was shouting from the stage and challenging to resign, the pension of HRTC pensioners had not come till that time. Therefore, he should resign. This is not a matter of one day, often retired employees of HRTC are seen protesting or threatening to protest. This means that they are not getting pension. Last month also, HRTC pensioners were protesting on 12 November to release their pension. If their pension was not stopped then why were they protesting. Shouting does not change the truth.
The Leader of Opposition said that the Bharatiya Janata Party will not tolerate the kind of abusive language being used by the Congress in-charge. The Congress in-charge should publicly apologize for his statement. Nothing is going well in the government at this time. The Deputy Chief Minister is saying that I did not talk to the CM on this matter but I say this, he says that. It seems that they were meeting only on the stage, otherwise they meet less. There is no answer to the number of factions and groups in which the Congress is divided. From the stage to the rally, every leader was trying to show his power. There was a competition of speaking loudly and in a bad way, the entire government spent so much money, time and resources only to curse the opposition. In response to the questions of the journalists, he said that the Honorable Deputy Chief Minister is very frustrated and disappointed at this time. Whatever he is saying these days is due to his frustration. He himself knows what his position is in the government. He was the Leader of Opposition for five years and now even after being the Deputy Chief Minister for two years, his condition is like that of the opposition. That’s why he is saying such things.
Jairam Thakur said that the practice of threatening officers and journalists from the stage is not ending in the Congress. They want to scare the officers and employees who raise their voice by issuing notices of breach of privilege and show cause notices. But the people of the state are not going to be scared by their threats. Journalists are being openly told from the stages that you should assume that the government will run for the full five years. So show it by running it. The journalists are not running your government. But it would be better if the government refrains from the threats that are being made through this statement. The state will run with democracy and not with the threats of the Congress. No one’s threat has the strength to ruin the pen of the fourth pillar of democracy, to hold the hand of any journalist. The government wants that the media should not discuss the failures of the government but should praise it. People with such thinking should come out of the era of dictatorship.
Jairam Thakur said that factionalism is at its peak in the Congress, from the state level to the national level, leaders are competing to prove themselves. The entire state saw what happened on the stage yesterday. A woman who is the state president of the party was stopped from speaking, the reason for stopping her must have been that she might expose the government herself. Therefore, she was given a slip to end her speech on the stage itself. Even the speech of people in the government has been guarded.
In a country where thousands of crores of rupees are being spent every year on Swachh Bharat Mission. The government has built toilets in more than 12 crore houses, imposing a tax of twenty-five rupees per toilet seat in that country is a despicable act. The government may have withdrawn that tax after pressure from Delhi and public condemnation, but the documents of imposing toilet tax and withdrawing it with back date are still present on the minister’s website. The notification for the implementation of toilet tax is dated 17 September 2024. The number of the notification is No. JSV-B(C) 9-1/2024 Dated 21/09/2024. 15 days after that, i.e. on 04 October 2024, there is a notification for withdrawal of toilet tax. The number of that notification is No. JSV-B(C) 9-1/2024 Dated 21/09/2024. If the minister does not know all this, then it seems that someone else is running the honorable’s ministry.
The tickets of the youth who charged fare for cookers and heaters in buses must have reached the government through various means. If the government wants, it can get it investigated. It has also come to light that the youth from whom fare for the cooker was charged is a handicapped person. One youth is a student and the other is a handicapped person. This is the level of sensitivity of the government.
Jairam Thakur said that instead of talking about this and that, the government should answer the questions of the opposition and the allegations of corruption against them, because in the Kacha Chittha submitted to His Excellency, all the allegations have been given with proper documents. The government should come forward and get those cases investigated and punish those who are guilty, otherwise it will be assumed that all this is happening at the behest of the government. The government cannot run away from the allegations made by the opposition. It will have to answer about all the scams including liquor scam, mining scam, solar project scam, PWD scam.
