Rain, windstorm & overcast: People have respite from the heatwave
Light to moderate rain accompanied by windstorms and lightning gave major respite from heatwave conditions in the past 24 hrs, Indian Meteorological Department said issuing a yellow alert of inclement weather for the next three days in the state.
Moderate to Heavy Hailing is likely to occur in Shimla city and adjoining areas of the district in Himachal Pradesh last evening. Reports of thunderstorms and light rain were also received from a few places in Solan and Sirmaur districts.
On Wednesday sky was mainly cloudy and inclement weather conditions were likely to extend for the next three days. The maximum temperature went up to 40 degrees in many foothills towns likely to contain by the continued inclement weather but sweltering heatwave conditions continue to prevail in some places. Thunderstorms also affected the power supply in some places of the Shimla, Sirmaur, and Solan districts.
