PRSI Shimla Chapter Honored with Best Programmer Award in Chhattisgarh

The Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) Shimla Chapter has been honored with the prestigious Best Programmer Award for its exceptional programming efforts throughout the year 2024. This accolade was presented during the 46th All India Public Relations Conference, held from December 20-22, 2024, in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.In addition to this recognition, veteran PR professional Shiv Singh Chauhan, a dedicated member of the Shimla Chapter, was conferred with the esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award. The awards were presented by Dr. Nand Kumar Sai, Former Member of the National Scheduled Tribe Commission and former Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha), along with Shri Arun Sau, Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh.

A highlight of the ceremony was the launch of the book Himachal Pradesh: The Wonderland, written by Shiv Singh Chauhan and published by the Publication Society of the Shimla Chapter. The Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sau formally released the book during the event.

Shiv Singh Chauhan, at the age of 93, retired from the Information and Public Relations Department of the Himachal Pradesh government in December 1989. Throughout his career, he was recognized as an accomplished and highly respected professional, making significant contributions to the field of Public Relations. He became a sought-after resource person due to his vast experience and expertise.

During his distinguished service, Shiv Singh Chauhan held various positions and had the privilege of working alongside some of the most prominent Chief Ministers of Himachal Pradesh. He worked closely with Dr. Y.S. Parmar, the Founder of Himachal Pradesh, as well as seven-time Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh, Shri Shanta Kumar, and Thakur Ram Lal.

In addition to his career in public relations, Shiv Singh Chauhan is also an accomplished author. He has written a book on the life of former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal. His second book, Himachal Pradesh ke Paanch Saput, highlights the contributions of the first five Chief Ministers of the state, offering valuable insights into their roles in shaping Himachal Pradesh’s political landscape.

This year’s 46th All India Public Relations Conference was a landmark event, being held for the first time in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Themed ‘National Values: International Skills – The Role of Public Relations’, the conference saw engaging discussions on critical topics such as self-reliant India, emerging India, artificial intelligence, skill development, corporate social responsibility, Indian culture, PR ethics, media communication policies, and organizational reputation.

The Public Relations Society of India, established in 1958, is the country’s foremost national organization for public relations professionals. Its mission is to promote public relations as a strategic management function while upholding the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. The inaugural All India Public Relations Conference, held on April 21, 1968, in Delhi, set the foundation for the growth and direction of public relations practices in India.
