President Murmu honors bravehearts who sacrificed everything for the nation

President Droupadi Murmu paid tribute to the valiant individuals who gave their all for the nation. At the Defense Decoration Ceremony (Phase-1), she presented 10 Kirti Chakras (seven posthumously) and 26 Shaurya Chakras (seven posthumously) to members of the armed forces, central armed police forces, and police personnel from various states and union territories.

Rifleman Kulbhushan Manta from Kupvi in Shimla district, Himachal Pradesh, was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra. His mother and wife, Neetu, accepted the honor on his behalf. Manta lost his life during a terrorist encounter in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir.

The ceremony, held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday, celebrated these individuals for their outstanding bravery, indomitable courage, and exceptional dedication to duty. The event was attended by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and several other ministers. The families of the posthumous awardees received the honors, and their heroic stories were shared during the presentation.
