Pratibha directs officials of Luhri Hydro Project to take up rehabilitation of affected families
Member of Parliament Pratibha Singh has directed the officials of Luhri Hydroelectric Project Phase-I 210 MW under construction that rehabilitation and employment of the affected families should be ensured in the project. She has said that the affected families should not be ignored and all possible help should be given to them along with their rehabilitation.
While presiding over the rehabilitation and resettlement committee meeting of Luhri Hydroelectric Project Phase-I at Bayal, Rampur today, Pratibha Singh said that no injustice should be done to the people affected by the project. She said that the problems of the people should be dealt with sympathetically. She said that the affected families who have become completely landless due to this project should be allotted land. Where they are being settled, special attention should be paid to the basic facilities like roads, drinking water, sewerage.
In the meeting, Pratibha Singh, after taking full information about the relief and rehabilitation works from the officials, called upon the members of the committee to go and see the problems of the affected people themselves, so that they can be diagnosed in the meetings held from time to time. Instructing the project officers to keep an eye on the work of the companies involved in the construction work, he said that injustice should not be done to anyone and their problems should be resolved on time.
In the meeting, Pratibha Singh asked to form a committee under the chairmanship of Sub-Divisional Officer, Civil, which can solve the problems of the people soon.
Kullu Deputy Commissioner Ashutosh Garg while instructing all the officers present in the meeting to solve any problems of the people affected by the Jal Bidhut project, said that there should be no laxity in this at the government level.
Rampur MLA Nand Lal, Ani MLA Lokendra Kumar also presented the problems of the people affected by the project in the meeting. He said that all complaints related to employment should be settled without any discrimination. He said that there is a need to keep a close watch on any arbitrariness of the companies engaged in construction. He urged the administration that it should be completely ensured that the interests of the people should not be played with in any way. Apart from the DC of District Kullu, ADM Kullu, SDM Nirmand, Executive Engineer of Public Works Department, Forest Divisional Officer, officers of many other departments, SJVN officers, members of the committee and public representatives were present in the meeting.
Pratibha Singh also listened to the problems of the people affected by the Luhri Hydroelectric Project. She assured them that their interests would be fully protected. She asked the Deputy Commissioner Kullu to give top priority to the problems and grievances of the project affected people.
