Police resolve Rs 15 lakh temple burglary
Himachal Pradesh Police resolve Rs 15 lakh temple burglary after recovery of Golden and Silver coated idols from the possession of a Nepali on the basis of CCTV footage. Police chief Shimla Ms Monika Bhutunguru said that in the intervening night of
July 1 – 2, 2022 received information of theft at Naag Kansar Labana Temple at Jhakri in Shimla district. Police acted promptly and arrested a Nepalese national. Stolen gold and silver idols and cash has been recovered from him. The estimated value of stolen items is Rs. 15 lacs. A case under section 457 & 380 of IPC has been registered at PS Jhakri. She said that prompt action could be taken due to alertness of temple nightwatchman and presence of CCTV cameras. Shimla Police requests all Temple Committes to install CCTV cameras and deploy a nightwatchman. In case of any suspicion and movement of suspicious elements around or in the religious shrine local Police Station should be alerted in this regards.
