Peeran Panchayat faced a 17-hour power cut due to a monkey hanging on the power line
Electricity supply was restored in Peeran Panchayat after 17 hours due to a langur hanging on an electric pole. People’s electrical appliances and mobiles stopped getting recharged. Despite the biting cold, people of Peeran Panchayat had to spend the night in darkness. Let us tell you that on Sunday at 4 pm, a langur got electrocuted on an electric wire near Peeran, due to which the wires got short-circuited. Due to which the fuse blew in the transformer. After the local people removed the langur from the electric wires with great difficulty on Monday morning, people themselves had to take a risk and put the fuse, only then the electricity was restored.
The situation is such that due to shortage of staff in the electricity sub-division Junga, the employee has to travel about 36 kilometers to Peeran just to fix a fuse. The people of this area have been demanding from the government to fill the post of a T-mate or a lineman in Peeran for the past several years but no hearing has taken place till date.
Senior citizens Dayaram Verma and Pritam Singh Thakur say that since the past one week, unannounced power cuts have been taking place in this panchayat, due to which people are facing a lot of problems in winters. They said that on the demand of the people, Peeran Panchayat has been connected to Rajgarh’s Sheelabag sub-station for about a year. Earlier, electricity was supplied to this area from Koti Neen, but in winters, there used to be blackouts for many days due to snowfall in Koti Neen.
It should be noted that the electricity sub-division Junga is facing a shortage of staff for the last two years. One post of assistant engineer has been filled after one year while a total of 16 posts including JE are vacant. Due to this, sometimes it takes two days to replace a fuse. The responsibility of 136 transformers of the sub-division is on the shoulders of only 12 field employees.
SDO Sub Division Junga Yashwant Singh said that Peeran Panchayat was connected to Sheelabagh of Rajgarh due to which there is a problem in maintaining normal electricity supply.
